Project Goal

To build a self-sustaining eCommerce brand that generates organic traffic, sales, and long term growth without relying on paid advertising. The goal was to test and prove that a brand rooted in SEO, quality content, and conversion focused design could succeed in the competitive outdoor gear niche.

About The Brand

Wilderness and Waves is an outdoor lifestyle eCommerce brand focused on providing affordable, high-quality camping and hiking gear. Designed for nature lovers and weekend adventurers, the site features essential products like tents, backpacks, and accessories all curated with ease-of-use and practicality in mind. The brand’s mission is simple: make outdoor exploration accessible to everyone, without breaking the bank. From detailed blog guides to SEO optimized gear listings, Wilderness and Waves was built to organically attract and support a growing community of outdoor enthusiasts.

Solution

I launched Wilderness and Waves in June 2024 as a passion project and full eCommerce storefront. I handled all branding, development, SEO, and product sourcing myself. Using Shopify, Klaviyo, Google Merchant Center, and Google Search Console, I built a fully operational store and content system. I wrote original, keyword optimized blog posts that now rank on the first page of Google, including within AI generated results. With no ad spend, I generated over 7,100 sessions, $4,400 in revenue, and 68 organic orders. I continue refining site speed, SEO performance, and product feed quality to maintain Google Merchant Center compliance and maximize visibility.
